Local October Festivals
October is one of our most glorious months here at Lake Martin. The cool, crisp air begs us outdoors and sets our hearts in the mood to start gathering for the holidays. Here are a few local festivals that are fun for the whole family. These are real traditions at Lake Martin.
GET OUTSIDE AND ENJOY
October 13 - Oktoberfest
This year marks the 38th annual Oktoberfest at the Charles E. Bailey Sportsplex. A large festival with arts, crafts, lots of food and entertainment. Oktoberfest is one of the most beloved community events in Alex City. 8am - 3pm
October 20 - Fall for Downtown
Hosted by Main Street Alexander City and sponsored by Country Financial, this annual fall festival will be held at Strand Park and throughout the streets of downtown. 8am - 11am. The sidewalk sale begins at 8:00am. The kids’ station will be available in Strand Park starting at 9am with inflatables, face painting and the famous pumpkin roll.
October 20 - Wind Creek State Park Halloween 5K Run
The 2018 Wind Creek State Park Halloween 5K Run will start at 8:30am in the marina parking lot. Report to the park office at 7:30am for sign in and T-shirt pick up, warmups and stretching. This annual event at beautiful Lake Martin will wind among the trees and along the shoreline through the campground and picnic areas. Register for $25 at active.com
October 27 - Fall Festival at Russell Crossroads
Russell Crossroads will host a working blacksmith, grist mill, horseback rides, lawn games, face painting, pumpkin carving and baking and canning contests fro 10am - 1:00am. Cost $25 for family. Call 256.397.1019 for more information.
